I’m softly athletic.

In my online profiles I have pictures, but I always fear they’re more flattering than I am in real life.  I know my angles, how light plays a factor on impact.  That’s not me, that’s just smoke and mirrors!

So I go out of my way to describe how I view myself and I’ve come up with “softly athletic” as the two best words to describe me.  I have muscle and you can see it, but it’s encased in soft flesh.  My ass is round and jiggles just a little.  I’m thick and strong, a former athlete of one kind or another over the years and currently I challenge myself to ache from head to toe with exertion be it from push-ups or core-buring thrusts against a lover’s hips.

This body of mine is divine and with each passing day and week I seem to fall more in love with it as it continues to inspire me to stretch into it and use it in magical ways.  Size doesn’t matter, only how it feels, and it explodes with joy and weeps with passion and carries me to and fro with swinging limbs and swaying hips.

May you all enjoy your vessels half as much as I do mine, softly athletic or otherwise.

My gift to me.

My gift to me.

  1. I feel drunk. My brain is popping with pleasure. I absolutely love what you wrote. It is poetic and inspiring and I will have to carry it with me from now on. Coupled with that is this, you know, very pleasant photo. My brain is very happy. Thank you.

  2. Ah, I would say your body is both toned and womanly! Believe me, nothing is more sexy than a female with a smile and real muscles. A Friendly tussle as foreplay is a great way to see who gets to be on top. Don’t you think? May the best person win! I suspect you’re even stronger than you look.

  3. It’s funny how I can relate! I was told once that it’s clearly visible there is muscle beneath my soft curves…
I’m not sure the muscles are still here, I’d have to go look for them. But… I like softly athletic.
I may want a bit less soft and a bit more athletic. Who knows, it may even happen in the coming year 😉

    • And you’re totally right: we should cherish all that our bodies allow us to do. I love what you wrote, have been meaning to come back here for a while and hadn’t got around to it until now, sorry!

  4. Dear Hy …
I’ve spent the past few weeks, as I do each year, the fates willing, preparing, and now performing, the annual Xmas show.
The whole point, of course, is to provide the lights and props and so forth to make all those hard working 20 somethings look as fab as possible…
    I’m … old, I guess.
I live in a body that for decades was once famous for what it could do, but which is increasingly incapable.
    Cherish yours. Enjoy every moment.

  5. Beautiful.

Having now met someone who had only known me from photos, I understand better where you’re coming from on the issue of whether the photos are “accurate”: the photos on our blogs are not how someone would experience either of us in everyday life, e.g. chatting at a coffee shop. But I still think that dismissing your images as smoke and mirrors does you a disservice. I think it’s an issue of making art with your body as the primary medium. Yes, light and angles contribute, but they’re hardly the whole story. The photos aren’t ordinary, but then they’re not meant to be.

That said, I think “softly athletic” is right on the money.
